Frigidair Electric range element inop

Hello All.......The RT front dual element has quit working on my Frigidair FEFL77AQE range. One of the terminals on the limit switch is burnt. There are three wires going to the element, the center wire is a short black one that goes to the limit switch, this is the one thats burnt on the switch end. Looks to me that the element and limit switch is sold as a unit. Should I just pony up the $136.00 for the element, or try installing a new terminal on the wire? 

The terminal thats burnt has been getting hot for a while, I use to see a orange glow under the cooktop but didnt know what it was. That glow was the terminal thats burnt. Too much ristance in the element? I can't get the service manuel to download off this site, was going to try and check the resistance, but didnt know what to look for. Looks like the replacement part number for my element 316418400, has a flat metal band replacing the short black wire. I'm betting the wire was a little lite for the application.

I took two 3" pieces of 14g wire, twisted them together and soldered them in place of the single 14g wire that was burnt. I figure this was a known problem, this is why the replacement has a oiece of metal band in place of the wire. I got a pot full of water boiling corn on the cob as I write this. Working fine so far.

Wow I just got through frying some chicken. I made some turnip greens and dirty rice. I have cornbread baking. Some of that corn on the cob would be good. Could you post photos of the repair? That would be cool. Glad to hear you got er fixed. I have tried to repair them elements without too much success. I had some nicron splices I use on the ribbon. Didn't hold up.
