Whirlpool duet sport keeps on pumping

Bought a whirlpool duet sport a couple of years ago and use it for approx. 5 loads a week. The other day the machine wouldn't start a cycle(any cycle) and just kept pumping out the drum. I disassembled the pump and everything looked o.k (pump is spinning and nothing blocking it) but washer continues to try to drain even when there is no water in the system.Any ideas?

I came across one that had a underwire holding the dump valve open and the water was continueously going out as it filled . Maybe yo have an obstruction in there. did you look close with a flash light?

I checked the black grommet with the checkball in it and noticed nothing blocking it. As i said the machine has be disconnected and the drum is dry.  The machine dosen't even try to put water in the machine. The pump runs for the 8 minutes the shuts down and flashes code

What is the code it is flashing?

If this washer fills for to long I believe it has a safety feature. It will go into a pump out cycle and turn off.

How long does the washer run before it goes into the 8 minute drain cycle?

Have you tried switching it from hot to cold to see if you have both hot and cold water.

I'm guessing that for some reason the washer is not filling with water in the amount of time it should.

The machine can tell the water level switch has not been tripped telling it's full, so then the safety mode kicks in and does the 8 min drain.

Why your washer does not fill with water I think is the real question here.
