Hotpoint Gas Stove Model RGB745BEA2WH
« on: July 07, 2016, 08:32:57 PM »
Hotpoint Gas Stove Model RGB745BEA2WH, Self Clean lamp flashes when trying to start the oven or broiler.  If you lock the oven door and set the thermostat to Clean, the oven and broiler will light.  I let it run in Self Clean for a few minutes and then set the thermostat to off.  Once the oven cooled down the oven door would unlock, but the Self Clean lamp continues to flash when you try to start the oven or broiler.

Any idea which way to proceed?  Thanks, Joey Bullock.

sounds like the oven temp sensor is wonky.
Ohm it out, should be about 1080

Have you tried unplugging the unit for a couple miutes to see if it will reset itself?

If the temperature sensor checks out OK then ods are that the control board is bad.

Yes, the first thing that I tried was unplugging it and waiting for about a minute before reconnecting power.  I'll check it further and let you know what i find.  Thanks for the info.

I measured the 1093 ohms resistance on the temperature sensor.  I kept searching and found that mice had gotten into the compartment where the oven door clean latch switch is located and they had packed the area full of insulation.  The insulation had the lever on the oven door clean latch switch stuck in the closed or latch position no matter whether the oven door was latched or not.  I got everything cleaned up and the oven works correctly.  I appreciate the info.  Thanks, Joey.
