Hi
This is about a ten year old washer. I thought the noise might be the belt which I had replaced a few years ago when the machine did the thumping thing and a chunk of the belt was missing.
Took the front off and checked the belt - Feels fine with no chunks missing or obvious cracks..
The sound is definitely coming from the lower area and, according to my wife, is louder with a heavy load.
As I think about this I realized that the machine actually stopped working a few months ago. An electrical burning smell was evident. I pulled the plug, took out a bunch of wet stuff (not an unusually large load and certainly no larger than it has handled easily in the past) and about an hour later plugged it in to see if I could identify what had happened.
When I started the machine it ran and completed the cycle - nothing loaded in it.
I though perhaps a sheet or something larger got wrapped around the agitator in a way that it was not able to move and some safety device had kick the machine off.
Not sure if that info helps or confuses the situation.
The noise is repetitive and is evident in wash and rinse cycles. It does sound like there is a piece out of the belt but the belt feels completely intact.
I have tried to post a short video of the machine running in the wash cycle with a light load
Wash Cycle NoiseThanks for any ideas.
