Amana Front Loader shuts off before rinse cycle can begin

I bought this thing in April 2008, figures that it is out of warranty....

What I have noticed with either a small load of laundry or a large load, SOMETIMES it will do this sometimes it won't.  Started last week on the third load of laundry.

• Normal Load Setting
• Washer goes through wash cycle
• Spins and enters rinse cycle
• After rinse cycle starts (I believe it does haven't sat by it to see exactly what happens) the washer just shuts off.  No error code or anything.

I have run through all of the diagnostics that came with the washer and I get ZERO codes.  I have even done this when a cycle stops just so I can spin the clothes dry to put in the dryer.

Not sure what is going on, I don't have it apart yet.

As with most digital machines, this frontloader is looking for the rinse water to fill within a specified time range. If the cold water is barely trickling in dues to blockage somewhere, the machine can shut down without further warning.  Check the  water flow thru your hoses first. You can usually check it in the wash cycle using the Cold only wash to monitor the incoming water. If it is slow, try removing the hoses and cleaning the inlet screens to see if the problem goes away.

I checked the hose, everything is fine.  Last night I washed in a NON A.T.C. Mode of cold/cold and the load finished all the way through.

Another load was done in warm/cold ATC and didn't finish the rinse cycle.  Filled the basin w/water but didn't go through the cycle.  When I got home, I opened the door, closed it, pressed RINSE & SPIN and the timer kicked off and successfully rinse and spun the clothes dry. 

I am attempting a hot/cold load right now.  Normal wash, 59 mins

Wash cycle just finished.  Powered off and wont turn back on at this point.

After spin from wash cycle is where it is stopped.

Apparently things needed to cool down.  Put washer in rinse & spin mode this morning.  Started right up.

I'm guessing something is overheating.

That is a sign of detergent OD. You machine may have overheated trying to get rid of the dreaded SUDS LOCK. If you over use the detergent or add in the wrong stuff the washer controls will cause the motor to overheat trying to make sure their are no more suds.

Weird, I washed baby clothes with a very small amt of Dreft so I know there weren't many suds in that load...

With that said, how possible would it be that there us a large amount of grass covering/blocking sensors?  I've been preaching to my stepson to remove all grass from his clothes before washing, I always can get a small handful out of the basin when removing his clothes to start another load.

Where should I start removing parts to inspect for debris?  I found a service manual online but hearing It from the expert might make the job easier.

Is Dreft an HE approved detergent? You going by this dosage?

HE: (2) Tablespoons Per Washload

HE 2X (double concentrated) : (1) Tablespoon

HE 3X (triple concentrated): (1) Teaspoon

I took some things apart again today.  And over the past couple of days I ran some vinegar through the washer in an attempt to clean it out, using Quick Wash.  Washer finished cycle completely, just doesn't complete when clothes are in the machine.

Here is what I did check,

Cold water intake filter - clean
Hot water intake filter - clean
Pulled hoses from pump - clean

Put in service mode to read the codes, this time it came back with

22 - Door/lid switch seen open during cycle (when not paused).
11 - Will Not remember machine settings

I cleared codes
Performed "Door Lock Test" - passed

restarted a Quick wash this time.  Same thing shuts off before rinse cycle, washer will not turn back on at this point.
