Whirlpool washer won't fill.

I'm working on a an older Whirlpool washer model #LA610OXSNO.  It will not fill with hot or cold water.  If I advance the timer it will drain and spin.  Also, if I fill the tub manually with water it will agitate.  I swapped out the mix valve with a mix valve off another Whirlpool that I know to be good.  Still the machine will not fill and there is no voltage at the terminal block that connects to the valve terminal.

Might it be the timer?  The water level switch?  The temperature switch? (which is pushbutton)  What should be my next step in diagnosing this?

You could do a visual inspection of the timer barrel by removing the dust cover and looking for burn marks. You might even find the problem. Inside that timer is a barrel with humps and a row of points like in an old car. As the timer motor rotates the barrel around the humps open and close those contacts. Over time the points get burred and will not make good contact. If you can remove the dust cover and rotate the barrel manually and find a burned mark, you can file down that particular contact and bring that puppy back to life. It is kinda tough to get back together but they do rebuild em up in Michigan. Not if you send it in pieces though
