There is only one way to remove and install them. As with any major repair there are usually specialized tools to make the job go quickly and correctly. However, it seems there are a lot of "enterprising" individuals who feel they can fix anything with what they already own. So, unless you are McGyver, you will need this special tool shown below to accomplish the bearing and seal overhaul. As far as tips, the instructions are inside the kit link I showed you above. I am not able to find one of those tools online, but the part number for it is below if you want to give it a go.
Did you drop the spin tube as I suggested before ordering the bearings? How about the pump and the tub as AJ suggested? You may be in for trouble if not. I was basing my advice on what you were told to begin with.
