it does. Could I have made any mistakes while replacing the spin pawl?

I disagree about the spin pawl being bad.  I've seen a lot of bad spin pawls and it will usually spin but will not go into neutral correctly.  There's another component of the neutral pack that has a spring.  If that spring is broken off, you will get an intermittant spin (see pic).  I usually install the whole neutral pack part # 388253. I try to fish the spring out with a pick up magnet but doesn't seen to hurt if you just leave it.

I am in desperate need of help getting my washer to spin. I just replaced my spin pawl and I ran it for a test cycle, everything works until it gets to the spin cycle, t makes noise like it wants to spin but it does not, I tried to manually turn the tub but it seems like the brakes on on, I can manually turn the tub with no problem with the tranny out.

Is it critical to have the brake cam lined up with the clutch for the tub to spin?

You just need to not have the clutch spring jammed against the brake cam during the tranny install. Get it anywhere but there and when she goes the spin she will lock in place.

My washer was spinning prior to the repair but not every time so I was told on this forum it was the spin pawl. Now the problem I have is the brake is on and the tube won't spin at all. Is it critical to align the brake cam with the clutch?

Just make sure the clutch spring does not jam against the brake cam. When it spins it will get in the right spot.

How? I am sorry to sound so stupid, I replaced the spin pawl in 15 minutes and I have spent the last 2 hours trying to figure out why the brakes on on.

The motor goes in 2 directions
In wash it locks the tub in spin the other direction the tub gets released by the clutch a rubbing against the brake cam actuator. If that ear is broken off the brake cam it won release the brake.

There is nothing broken off of the brake lever. Is there a postion the clutch needs to be in when installing for this to work correctly?

Nope it just needs to not hit the spring and bind. Anywhere in the other 99% of the clutch is fine.

Coupling is fine, it goes through the wash cycle with no problems until it gets to the spin cycle.
