I for one think it would be great if you let us know the steps you take in starting your own appliance repair business.

You could post here with each step you take.

Think how helpful it would be to others that will be looking for information on starting a appliance repair business.

In doing so you may also make new contacts that can help you along the way.

Well I just started the penn foster appliance course. I want to be able to repair refrigerators, window units, stoves, hot water heaters, washer dryers, and other small appliances. I will post each step I take in the process. There is a need in the future for repairmen in the nearby parish.

You need a good meter. A few hand tools. Don't go out and buy a bunch of stuff. Take the basics: water pump pliers, 6 in one screwdriver, and a meter.

Here is a appliance repair book that our local library has. Seem pretty up to date compared to other appliance repair books I have seen.

Troubleshooting and Repairing Major Appliances, 2nd Ed.

Hope you find our site helpful.

Did you finish the course?
If not did you get to keep your books and tools?

I tried to upload a picture of my tools.  (too many KB's) I use more then what JW does cuz I'm still learning what works and getting rid of what doesn't.

I've been doing this for many years,90% is done with a 6n1,meter and pliers.
However,I do have a few thousand tied up in other tools, pumps, gauges, tanks, torches etc.
They cover the other 10%. Usually daily.
