Maytag washer
« on: June 22, 2010, 03:51:20 PM »
In going through the repair manual for this machine I noticed that there are different "Series" mentioned. How does one figure out which series they own?
     Machine is: Model               MAH4000AWW
                     Serial Number    40273051WM

First 2 numbers of the serial.  In your case it will be a series 40.

Hi
The confusing part is that the repair manual refers to Series 10,11,etc.
No Series number is listed that is higher than 20.
The electrical schematics are either for Series 10 or Series 11.
  The Serial number is 40273051WM

  Thanks
  Vince

yup, thats because your manual you are looking at generally applies to your machine.  It was printed before yours was built.  Your tech sheet for your machine, is under the console (behind the timer).  That will be the most accurate schematic you will find.  What is wrong with your machine? I have been working on them since they came out in 1997.  I would be glad to help you, as well as our other techs here! O0

Hi
  Just for the record.
I brought this machine in July 1999 and I would have to assume that it was built before that.
The manual that I'm using has electrical schematics which were revised in July 2000. Judging by them the machine is either Series 10 or Series 11, if it really mattered I could check the schematics in the manual against the one in the console. It was just something that I was mildly curious about so I just asked, but I'm not going to spend any more time on it.
Same old, the motor control board is fried, I'm going to order the conversion kit.

   Thanks
    Vince

It's still a series 40.  Maytag has been using the first 2 numbers of the serial for the series production number since the 60's.  That has since changed when Whirlpool bought them out in April of 2006.

The wiring diagram for the series 11 is the one you will need.  They did not make any changes to the wiring from series 11 to series 45.

You do not want to buy parts for your machine that are listed with a 45 series production part number or higher.  Most part suppliers will ask you for your serial # if there are differences in the part that you need for your model.

 Hi
I apologize, you are right as usual it is a Series 40.
My motor conversion kit just arrived and I have to go and install it.

 Thanks again
