Does the spring tool for a Maytag washer work for GE washers?  Tired of cutting my arms up using channel locks and none of the GE service manuals I've looked at say anything besides 'remove the spring'.  Can the snubber ring be slid in with the two rear springs attached?  

Also, anyone have a part number for the plastic retainer the bottom of the rear two springs hook into, I've been cut off on tech support twice today trying to find out and it isn't on the parts lists.

Thank you very much!!  Two different GE online techs were telling me to order the entire base plate to get these parts and I knew it couldn't be so!!

ROFL no, just the reg tech support staff, one of them had actually worked in the field and knew the part, but couldn't give me a part number.  Even now there isn't a valid 'GE' part number I can find.  Hmmm, they don't want mechanics either?   :)

Interesting, it does not come up on the GE site at all...  even trimming numbers off front and back.....

Appreciate the help, but I guess I'll do what they want and order the 'base assembly' just to get one of those parts...   
They are paying the parts bill after all....

No doubt about it!  One snapped in half when I was replacing a tranny on a store stock item for one of the local stores.  It is sitting there all done except for the springs and the last few screws....

Thanks for the Manual, and yes, that is beyond all doubt the part, but I guess that GE can supply the entire assembly since it won't even show on their web site (or any other that I have found yet) as 'not illustrated'.    :tickedoff:  What I get for trying to save THEM money.....
