HYPOTHETICAL:

I'm 18 years old and attending Automotive Training School.

I have a choice of becoming a Trained Automotive Specialist in one,two or three levels or categories of vehicles.

My decision is *important* as earned income is a factor to consider.

1) Train ONLY as a Ford Contour/Chevy Cobalt specialist.

2) Take training in BMW/Lexus/Mercedes vehicles

3) Learn them all

What should I do?

More importantly--which of these three choices best increases my odds of a decent income & a long term career?

HYPOTHETICAL: I would have started a new topic...

It's a little to late for that.  Since I started the off topic discussion back in February. I was browsing threw old posts, and found this one that I could update on.  Maybe AJ can cut it out, into it's own thread.

This is not what where I was trying to take this.  I am aware that as a Technical Professional, I need to know how to work on all sorts of machines.  I like where our profession is going and I also like knowing as much as I can about it.  I just don't like going into a home where the customer has spent 3000 dollars on a refrigerator, and then giving them a bill for 400 dollars, 6 months out of warranty because their ice-maker didn't work.
Authorized Samsung, Electrolux, Whirlpool, GE, Fisher Paykal, and Maytag Servicer with over 10 years experience.

I would never spend $3000 on an ice box. That is stupid. What they need to do is get a quality time tested cooling system into one of those fancy looking ice boxes.
An ice box don't need a tv board in it to make it function. A cold control, and  a timer for defrost, a defrost heater and a terminator, a couple of fan motors and a dang compressor is all that is needed. Consumers are being ripped off with ADC systems. No power is saved and tons of money is wasted on sh!tty over engineer shotty junk. It would not surprise me if someone said the stainless steel was peeling on these crappy wonders. Oops I said it again.

I posted that hypothetical in response to JW's post, Schaffer.

So you can relax (grin).

Nothing personal--just trying to be a little thought-provoking.

"Take training in BMW/Lexus/Mercedes vehicles"

Work on the stuff people will spend $ to fix...Subzero, viking, wolf ,Lebherr ,Asko

most people with any (cents) or $300 will not repair a 10yr Magic Chef and Haier

JW .. that would be like putting a small black chevy into a $300,000 Ferrari 575m superamerica
Check the Basics first!!! Read the Manual !!!Buy the tech a Beer!!!
