GE Top loader spin cycle?

Top loader GE with magnetic lid switch. Only issue with the machine is I have to lift the lid 5-10-20 times for the spin cycle to engage. Sometimes it also stays on if I open the lid, sometimes it turns off. I assume the issue is the lid switch. Am I oversimplifying?

if you unplug the unit for at least 1 minute and plug back in then lift lid 12 or so times it should reset the inverter board
