110.82873120 Washer lint filter

My washer drains its outlet tube into a large sink. Since the last 3 months, the sink drain has been getting clogged and I suspect it is with lint from the washer. I have to use draino to clear out the drain whenever it happens. I have not had this problem for the last 10 years or so. Someone told me that washers also have lint filters and mine might be full.

Where is this lint filter located in the washer and how do I clean it? I own a Kenmore washer 70-series model # 82873120. It was already there in the house when I bought it 10 years ago. So I do not know how old this model is.

dont use draino on a plugged washer drain

if chlorine bleach mixes with draino it makes chlorine gas (mustard gas)

No other issues with the washer. The sink gets clogged and overflows. Luckily, the washer is in the garage and so no flood damage results. I am trying to figure out why this problem of lint filling up the drain has suddenly appeared after about 10 years of no issues. I assume it is because of lint that the drain is filling up because when I put a sink filter with a fine mesh, it collects a lot of it after every wash.

Is that useful? There are no accompanying descriptions or instructions. I assume it fits outside the washer and can be attached to the end of the outlet hose just above the sink where it all drains out. Please confirm whether it will be useful and whether that is where it should be fixed.

You could mount a float switch on the sink to kill the power to the washer.

Did you clean it out every year ?
