Maytag MSD2454GRW side-by-side ice dispenser flapper not staying shut

Just replaced fountain ice door kit, new solonoid, door strike, etc. However, when I dispense water, the flapper does not shut. The spring inside just didn't seem to have enough tension, so I think that's an issue, but I see no real way to get enough tension on it.
