Washer spining slow at first durring drain
« on: May 25, 2010, 12:44:52 PM »
Hi

I have a admiral washer, when the washer goes
from agitate to spin and drain or rinse and drain
it seems to spin slow at first until I open and close
the lid then it spins fast and I then hear the water
pumping strongly, any idea what it could be?.

AAV7000AW, nothing but problems with this from the day we got it, I think this
was made during the time they were being taken over by Maytag and thought
they were about to lose their jobs, I found bolts missing, replaced belt and pump
so far, I think the pump bearing and belt was damaged over time by a basket spring bolt.

are you sure its not a MAV7000AWW.  Anyway, when the spin first starts in a regular cycle, it  should go slowly at first.  This machine doesn't pick up speed until almost all the water is out

What prompted you to look at the machine? Was it because of wetter then normal clothing?

Yes wet clothes sometimes at first, then water like every 3 or 4 loads on floor etc,
good thing its down in the basement, what I noticed was at the beginning of spin/drain
the tube was full of water and spinning slowly, causing overflow for a moment or two, that's where the water comes from it does drain eventually during the cycle if left alone, but when I open and close the lid it takes off and drains like new,

Yeh, differently has no out of balance switch I did a test wash
with the lid up, I did not see any water splash up but I did see the
tub once it got going spinning way out of balance, the washer is
100% level and the tub had only water in it. the spring bolts are
tight, the replacement after market pump looked like it was made
of garage compared to the orig all plastic, at this point it could be
anything. I don't know where to begin.

I am not even sure where the leak is coming from anymore.

Thanks
Sonny

Pull the pump and check for a blockage.
