gas range top burner

Have this GE gas range model no JGBS23BEA5WH that one of the top burner ignitors sparks at the base of the ignitor under the range top and not at the burner head like the rest of the ignitors.What do you think the problem is?Is the ignitor bad?

 If that is a seal burner you need to be careful. Raising the top can ruin the gas lines and make them leak gas.

Thanks for the reply.I have not raised the top,just removed the burner cap and burner head and can the ignitor sparking under the top.Do you think that the ignitor is bad?

Most of the time it is a weak module. The igniters don't go bad but they can get fouled by junk around the igniter keeping a good ground from happening.

I got it now after watching the video.Thank you so much for the help and great info.The igintor sparks,but only at the bottom where the wire goes,I assume that the igintor is bad or grounded?

The igniter HAS to have a clean surface around it to make contact with ground. Unless the porcelin is chipped or cracked these igniters don't go bad. But if they get grease around em they can't do the job. You need to clean around that area real good.
