Duet washer using cold water rinse when warm is selected

I caught this washer dumping pure cold tap water on my clothes when I had selected "warm/warm.". I have always hated this appliance.  I need to control the water temp myself for proper stain removal and care of a variety of fabrics.  Is it possible to override the temp controls on this piece of junk to allow me to control water temp at the tap?  I turned off the cold supply and the washer wouldn't fill.  When I say it was filling with cold water I mean tap cold.  HELP!

First turn off the hot water and disconnect the hose from the back, inspect the inlet where you removed the hoses from you'll see a screen it may be plugged.

I have not checked the filter, but I know the hot water comes in for the was cycle and the temperature is what I expect.  Also, the final spray at the end of the rinse cycle/beginning of the spin cycle is very warm and the clothes feel warm at the end of the end when I take them out.

My question is: if I want to manipulate the water temp manually, will I need to/be able to bypass a sensor?

It can't be done you must find what is wrong and fix it. There should be a tech manual inside the machine behind the kickplate. You'll need a meter and know how to use it diagnose the problem.

If you switch the hoses the on board brain will give a fault code and shut down.
You seeing any codes?

I only saw a code flashing when I shut off the cold water supply in hopes of getting only hot water (F and ?).  Otherwise no codes.

Does anyone still make a simple mechanical washer anymore?  Or should I be shopping for an antique?  Do ordinary folk want everything computer controlled?

Your ATC automatic temperature control may be the culprit.

1. Check that the inlet hoses are connected properly.
2. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
3. Check the water heater and wire harness connections
to it.
4. Check water temperature sensor for an abnormal
condition. See the Water Temperature Sensor section .

any cycle.

         I was over a customers house about 2 months ago.  She was using a washboard and handwashing her clothes because she couldn't afford to fix it for 3 months.    She had an old tried and true belt drive in mint shape,  needed a wigwag and a drain elbow.   You could get a washboard,   and line dry clothes.  Cant' get simpler or cheaper than that!     Ha Ha
       Seriously,  I agree with you JW,   Roper or any direct drive on sale.   I personally have a 23 year old whirlpool washer and dryer.   In 23 years,   only things I have changed were coils, belt  on dryer, and 2 couplings, a set of dogs and a lid switch on the washer.   The reason??    I have engrained into the wife's head not to overload.     
         I always tell my customers this and not to be too quick to get rid of a perfectly good washer for a Fancy front loader that will cost and arm,  a leg and an ear to fix.
