How do I find the model number of my range?
« on: April 04, 2010, 03:21:49 PM »
My range (I think) is a Kenmore (paint rubbed off.) I am having problems with the 2 large burners even getting warm.  SO I need to find the model number before I can look further into it.

Found it. Front frame of the broiler.

Model #911-6429180

Now, how do I test if it is the elements or the connection?

Sears model number start with three digits and end with eight.

For example: Model Number: 123.12345678

The model number you posted is missing a digit.

Just checked it again and that is the number.  Plate also says Made In The USA for Sears Roebuck.

Number came up OK, most likely problem with the burners not working are the receptacles and burners are pitted. Look at the ends of your burners where they plug in, are they black & pitted? Need new receptacles AND burners. Don't try to cut corners by just installing the receptacles or just the burners, you will burn them up as well. This was made by GE for Sears. You can use a 330031 Whirlpool receptacle as they are less expensive. The GE burners can be pricey so shop around.

Part # 330031

Yeah, the end of the elements are pitted a bit so I will change the receptacles and elements. Which elements should I look for are are they universal?

I dosent matter if you buy the factory burner or a knock off,  Just make sure your voltage and wattage ratings are the same as what you have in there.  Your burners that you have, if you look close on the burner supports it will say what they are.

The only thing to look for is the number of turns and the width; You have 6 and 8 inch burners. You would need to pay atention to the number of turns the cheapest is a 3 turn 6 inch followed by a 4 turn 6 inch. The cheapest 8 inche is a 4 turn 8 inch then a 5 turn 8 inch. You also want a delta base eye.

GE burners are a different size diameter, so ANY burner might rattle around and cause a premature failure again. Get a GE burner or a replacement for a GE burner. The receptacle I mentioned is fine for GE burners.
