got the cabinet and basket off.  unbolted the 3 bolts at the bottom and pulled the shaft out.  now not sure what to do.

i'm learning as i'm going.  now i have the gearcase out.  i don't want to start tearing into it until i know i'm on the right path.

when i get to spin cycle.  agitator works good.  however, it makes a loud screeching noise each time the agitator "resets".  just an awful and loud grinding noise.

So everything works ok other then it making the screeching noise?

Exactly when is it making this screeching noise?
Hope you find our website helpful.

works fine.  the screech/grind started during the spin cycle at the end (after the rinse)

A couple things I would look at that could make the noise.

1. Clutch
2. Something in the pump or tub that is rubbing or scrapping.

hmmm.  clutch...  i think i might have my name on something more like this:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/LG+-+3.5+Cu.+Ft.+5-Cycle+Super+Capacity+Washer+-+White/9215903.p?skuId=9215903&productCategoryId=abcat0910002&id=1218060486665

it's 12 years old and frankly pretty inefficient.  plus, clutch price and the fact that i really don't know what i'm doing...

thanks all for your help.  hopefully i can put this guy back together...appliance spring dropoff day is in 2 weeks ;)

take care.
