So far, I haven't seen any good "clues" for this gent. He would do well to  place his voltmeter at the 2 ignitor leads and see if there is 120 volts there when the dryer calls for heat. If so, the ignitor is bad.

Sir, before you  bought the high limit, manual and whatever else, did you first ask a pro what the problem could be or did you  just start buying parts? If you go about this the right way, it will save you hundreds of dolllars, including replacing the dryer.

I agree with Repair-man.

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink.

AJ provides this site free of charge and us technicians volunteer our time, but there will still always be members that just don't get it.

It just dawned on me that this person is trying to fix the dryer without the help of a meter. Even I cannot do that, sorry. There is a small amount of science involved in this  job, and having the right tools is a necessity. A voltmeter is fairly cheap investment if you want to start saving some real money on repairs. It takes all the guesswork out of open circuits.

I try to make certain things like this clear on my own forum before someone gets too far in over their head by placing a "read first" page that explains how things work. There is also a paragraph which lists the limitations and exclusions of using a help forum like this and mine reads:

"Advice received on this forum is given free of charge and no liability is assumed by the site administrator or any authorized agent thereof. This includes advice given by outside moderators who have professional experience to provide free of charge on this forum. If the repairs suggested are beyond your level of expertise, then you should call in a local professional to assure a proper repair. Basic hand tools and a volt/ohm meter are the minimal requirements to test your appliances."

To me that is pretty straightforward.
