Kenmore Coldspot Fridge divider getting hot

I have a Kenmore Coldspot side-by-side refrigerator that I received from my brother in law. He said it was functional but it was in his garage for a while unused. I connected it in my kitchen and everything seems to work - the freezer and fridge get cold, light on the front comes on, etc. My problem is the front of the divider between the freezer and the fridge (where the two doors come together when closed) gets very hot. I've only had it plugged in for roughly 30 minutes and it was very hot to the touch.

What is in the divider that would get hot? Should I not use the fridge until this problem is fixed? It's unplugged right now because I'm afraid of leaving it plugged in like it is. Any help or guidance is appreciated.

That's your Return line for the Refrigerant run threw the center to keep the gasket's pliable.  It should be warm, but not hot.  Pull the cover off the rear of the fridge, clean the condenser coils and verify that the fan back there is running.
