GE Ice dispenser problem

HI,

Our side by side is about 3.5 years old and the ice dispenser is acting up.  The crushed ice comes out fine but the cubed is a problem.  When you try to dispense cubes it makes a loud buzzing noise like it is trying to work but very little if anything comes out.

Can someone let me know what the problem is and how to fix?

It could be a full bin of ice.

Even when you empty half the bid it still makes the same loud noise and has trouble dispensing cubes.

Any other ideas?

Are the ice cubes sticking together, if so you might have a leaky ice maker valve.

I do not notice any clumps of cubes.  They all appear to be single cubes.

Yank the ice bin out and try to turn the auger by hand. Check the auger drive for cracks.

Auger moves freely , didn't notice any cracks.
