I have another lamp cord I use but instead of a heater element I use a 40 watt light bulb. I use that for checking continuity on various stuff.

I also have a magic wand; but it only provides misdirection. I realize how quickly we can get off topic in a thread (which provides some therepeutic distraction at times). But: Strip and bend 3 or four inch length of #10 solid wire to use as your ice maker jumper. It's a nice tight fit.

Use #14 wire for the I/M jumper.

I use a standard house wiring romex copper wire, make a horseshoe for my jumper. Works great
