washer stopped during wash cycle

The washer had just started its cycle and I opened the door to make sure it had enough water in it for the load.  The washer stopped when I opened the door, but when I closed it, it didn't start back.  It will run the spin cycle and drain but instead of just stopping at the end of the spin, it starts making sounds like it's trying to spin but it can't - run/stop run/stop until I move the dial to OFF.

I looked up your model. It is a direct drive. The lid switch is ok if the washer is pumping water out. I suspect the drive coupling has failed. The only way to know is to check . I have a few videos that show how to replace the drive coupling and other stuff  HERE
