This is the same machine as the Performa washer by Maytag. Yes, if the center pulley feels wobbly, replace the thrust bearing. With the front panel off, look for signs of oil around the bottom of the transmission where it sits on the cabinet base. There is indeed a snubber ring there to keep the machine stable in spin, but you would need a couple of specialty tools to pull the tub out, turn it over and replace the snubber ring which is trapped under a 200# brake spring assembly. As I mentioned, the tools alone outweight the cost of this repair (unless you can forge your own tools)
