Maytag Performa Washer

Washer will not spin unless slight pressure is applied on motor. Tried new belt. Same problem.

Tub bearings are ready to be replaced. (Maybe you can fabricate the $95 in special tools to do a $53 repair.) The bearing and seal kit for this model are shown below...however the special tools required to dismantle the machine are also available at the link below.

Mine wasnt spinning as fast as it should and sounded like metal scraping in the spin cycle. I took a chance and went with the cheap fix first and installed the thrust bearing kit.  It seems to have solved the problem.

Both of you had different problems, but both problems indicate that you overload these machines.

That could be. I got mine free after a reletive upgraded to front loaders.
