Old style pre 95 GE washer transmission

Trying to find out the correct type gear oil to use when I replace the bottom transmission seal on a unit that has been leaking.  The transmission part # is WH38X39. Any help is appreciated.

Bill, I have done dozens of those seal replacements using standard 85w-140 gear oil.  Make sure belt is snug, but not overtight and check for water leaks after reinstalling boot but before installing basket.(save you from pulling basket out if leak exists.
