Stops in mid cycle
Will spin all water out but timer sticks( doesn't advance automatically) when time to add water for rinse. If I rotate a bit and it will refill and do 2nd spin normally. Is it a bad timer?

I think it is. You could try oiling the timer but it will probably need to be replaced. To get the timer off you need to remove the knob and skirt to get to the hex head screws. You flip up the controls and the timer has a quick connect.
