Gemini Electric Range Lower Door Latch

The lower oven door latch stays in the lock position.  I can open the door by moving the latch with a knife.  There are no indications on the control panel that the door is locked.  What is the most common cause for this failure?

Lock motor stripped out. Depending on the model, some of these are located on the back of the range and fairly easy to change. Others are located up front between the oven cavities and a little harder to get to.
