whirlpool dryer
« on: January 16, 2010, 04:47:02 PM »
ok here is the problem, thanks so much in advance for your help....yesterday went to customers home the dryer was dead, check thermal fuse sure enough thats he culprit, change it put it all back togather after checking blower housing and heating element for lint ect. so the customer is dryer clothes hapily, until again it quits, so i go back, check the breaker, no problem, recheck thermal fuse no problem, so i hit start button, i look in the heating element and i see a metal pen insert in there starting to burn, so immediately i unplg and remove heating element, remove pen etc. dryer still will not start. now where to check?

What kind of pen? Ink pen?
You checked the breaker, but did you check power and wires at the wire terminal on the back?
Door switch?
Is this not sure model digital or manual timer?

Check for power to and through the start switch.
Check molex connector on the motor.
Make sure all 3 wires are on the door switch.
Check the large terminals on the door switch for continuity. Because the light works with the door open does not mean the switch has continuity when the door is closed.
