Whirlpool Gold 30" Freestanding Oven

 The display has an F5-E1 error code, which is a door latch error. I know that it needs a new door latch motor because the motor has a broken, slightly burned terminal. The problem is the code "LOC" that keeps showing up Even after resetting the display. None of the manuals show that code as part of the display. I don't want to replace the motor if the control is bad. The top burners are ok. Any ideas?

Chances are the control is perfectly fine. When most lock failures occur, the actuation cam under the lock motor usually stalls in an unusual position. This in turn causes the microswitches to provide feedback to the control, telling it all sorts of thins. Replacing the lock assy should clear up everything.

I had a Thermador oven yesterday with the same exact problem (dang those things are heavy)

 Thanks for the reply Repair-man. I'll go ahead and replace the latch motor. That makes sense now. I was rotating the motor manually and probably left it out of fully unlock position.
