Kenmore 70 series will not turn on

Ok, it looks like this topic has been covered a lot, but want to make sure I am on the right page, before I run all over town getting parts I don't need.

Problem: Dryer works fine, but on occassion would trun off in the middle of a drying cycle. Finally yesterday it stopped running all together and will not start. There is power to the unit, because the drum light still works and so does the timer. Breaker on the house was not tripped. There are three temp settings. Delicate, Medium and High. Even on the delicate cycle the inside temp seemed high. I pulled the back off and it was very dusty. Cleaned that all out and no go. So based on this information would it be the thermal fuse or one of the heating elements?

If it will not run you must check the thermal fuse on the exhaust duct first.
Unplug the dryer.
 Use a volt meter set for ohms/continuity,remove the 2 wires to the thermal fuse before checking.

The motor could have been overheating to shut off. It could also be the operating thermostat shutting it down(4 wires also on the exhaust duct.)

Well I got the dryer running again. It was the thermal fuse after all. This saved me about $1500, because the wife was already out looking for a new set.    Maybe next time. Thanks for the help.
