Old Whirlpool fridge will not run after ice maker removed

This fridge is either 20 or 30 years old. Owner removed ice maker and threw it in the trash because it wasn't making ice for a long time. Next day when he checked it it was not working. The trash man already came so no more ice maker. Question: Is this tied into the power for the compressor?

Yep. The ice box won't run with out it. But you can buy an alternative part.

Man my tooth was hurting so bad yesterday I couldn't even think to look it up over at app. dayum. Glad ya could get er going. Tell your friend he gets ta buy the next round. Would somebody pwease turn up the heat. Finally the football game is kicking off at 6 pm here tonight temps are 20 degrees below average go figure.
