Hello all, thanks in advance for your help. I am new to the forum (joined today), and hope I can mooch some valuable expertise off of you.
I have stumbled upon an LG
LFX25960ST for next to free, which I will be picking up Friday. The fridge works fine except for one thing...the water freezes at the dispenser. The flapper is open and moves freely. They have had three repair persons look at it but the issue remains, that's why they're getting rid of it. It would appear to me that the open flapper is freezing the spigot and causing the problem. I downloaded the service manual and found the parts on the exploded diagram, but the diagram only shows reference numbers (i.e. 275A), but has no table to cross reference part numbers. Although there is little I can do until I get the fridge, I was curious about the general operation of the dispenser...so here goes:
-The parts diagram shows three components (275A, 276A and 405A), the flapper, a solenoid and a spring. How do the solenoid and spring interact, my assumption is the solenoid opens the flapper and the spring returns it...is that correct?
-When should that solenoid get voltage?
-Does anybody have a cross reference for the exploded diagram for this fridge (list of part numbers)?
Thank you for your help,
Mike
