Maytag Range - Does not heat

Complaint: Oven does not heat.

I don't know what it is about maytag made ranges, but I sure put in a lot of bake elements.

This one was not any different. It is often easy to tell if a maytag bake element is bad as you can tell by just looking at it.
Very often a spot in the element will burn up and sometimes the things even explode into pieces leaving ash all over the inside of the oven.

This oven was only a couple years old and it already needed a new bake element.

We also own a 2 1/2 yr old Maytag range and our oven won't heat up. The bake element was cracked in two so my husband replaced it but the bake element still won't heat up. Don't know what part to buy now!

Oh no, your one of the unlucky ones.
Sounds like your oven control has been damaged too.
I would say 1 out of 20 of the maytag ovens I replace the bake element in also needs a new oven control.

The oven control is the part were you turn the oven on and set the temperature.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. Our model number is MER5875QCW.

The ciruit board (clock unit) behind the relay has a melted area. There is no voltage going into the green plug at the yellow wire. We live in Alberta, Canada so will need a supplier that can ship internationally if the parts are cheaper (which they usually are).

Three months ago the power cable melted off the terminal block (hadn't been plugged in properly from the factory) and we had to have this replaced. We don't want to put much more money into this product if in another few months something else is going to break down.

When I look up your model I come up with factory part number 74008656.

You can use that part number to shop around.

Looks like they are $176.75 at RepairClinic and I don't know if they ship to canada.

I looked at Sears.com and they were $193.79

Not cheap....
