Kenmore Coldspot s x s freezer thawing and re-freezing

My Kenmore side by side fridge/freezer - freezer keeps thawing and re-freezing.  To the point that meats will thaw and leak out of bottom of door.  Not noticed any problems with fridge side temp.  Have adjusted air flow between fridge/freezer and temp with no success.  Going on about 3 weeks now.  Lost all of my frozen food.  Any ideas?  Help is appreciated.

Thank you for your reply.  Since the part was not very expensive, I ordered the heater and replaced it.  Still have same problem.  Any more thoughts.  Thanks.

Check the coils under the machine for any lint of dust that might prevent proper air flow. Make sure the fan beneath is on and blowing. Do you feel any heat down on them coils. Is the small line hot? If not the thing might be low on gas. If the compressor is real hot to the touch you might have a bad relay. Get the timer out and turn it a time or 2 to loosen it up. It might be hanging up.

Thanks again.  I've noticed it might run off and on maybe 24 hours and then not re-start and begin to warm.  If I turn the thermostat dial, even toward the lower setting, the fridge will begin to run.  Anytime I notice it not running, I try this and it starts.  Could it be a faulty thermostat dial?  If so, do you have any info on how to repair or replace?  The other things you mentioned seemed okay after checking.  Thank you.

It maybe better to start a new topic. With a new topic you will be able to include a new subject title.

If you start posting here about a problem that has nothing to do with the subject title, "Kenmore Coldspot s x s freezer thawing and re-freezing" then some people my find it confusing.

Of coarse if you think the problem is related to what you have going on now just post it here in this topic.

Does that make any sense or did I just make things confusing?
