washer wont spin

I have an Amana washer that wont spin the motor is working but not turning the tub. It is just smoking the belt it is like the tub is locked up  :-\ any ideas

This is a failure of the triple-lip seal and tub bearing, a job that requires special tools to perform. The actual repair kit is only about $53, but the special tools will run you another $140 or so and you'll only need them if you intend to keep the machine around a few years. See the Maytag/Amana Washer Manual for details on this repair.
