RV465 DACOR EXHAUST FAN STOPPED WORKING IN UP POSITION

My wife tried to use our exhaust fan today; she pressed the "up" button and said it went up very slowly....the fan did not turn on. I pressed the fan speed buttons and the up/down button....no response and no lights on the fan speeds. I removed the access plate and tested for power and that checked out OK. I removed the large face plate that is held on by butterfly nuts thinking I might be able to coax the unit down, but only see a small metal enclosure screwed to the face of the assembly which I assume houses the limit switches. After easing out the screws slightly I tried to see if this assembly comes off but it appears to be attached to the arm that raises the head up/down. I'm afaid if I try to remove it completely I may not be able to get it back on.

Any suggestions???

I will study the manual today and see if I can make sense of it. I've already dismantled it (to a point) already, so I am looking forward to going deeper.I already see interesting possibilities regarding the RV speed control or perhaps something wrong with the keypad, which I will check first.
