HotPoint S/S Fridge w/built in water dispenser in door

So...
Since I had so much help with my Viking Stove a few months ago (hope ya enjoyed the beer Reg) I thought I would try again for assistance.
In my other house in Texas the light for the water dispenser glows very very dim when the button is pushed. It takes a 6W bulb and it has been replaced. It gets power because it shines dim.
OK.. maybe figured it out myself...
package of new bulb says 6w - 120 voltage
manual says 6w - 12 volt
is that a printing error or my problem?

that 120 volt rated bulb has a larger filement and probably more resistance than the 12 volt bulb.

Will wait til Monday to purchase new 12vt bulb.
thats what you get for buying what you take out.
previous homeowner made an error - thus we carry on

That was the problem.
When we purchased the house the light on the water dispenser barely had a glow to it. Seems the last homeowners took out the original bulb and replaced it with another 6w but 120vt. Then I replaced it with what I took out.
After driving around for 5 hours ... I got a 12vt bulb and... yes... it works!
