Whirlpool Dryer - Does not turn off.

Complaint: They started the dryer before they went to bed and it was still running in the morning with wet cloths in it.

Come to find out it was running on the automatic cycle. On this cycle the timer does not advance until the cloths are just about dry. In this case the cloths were not dry.

I run the dryer and found out the dryer was not heating. That is what the real trouble was. A quick check of the heating element with my ohm meter told me it was burnt out. I replaced heating element and the dryer not only heats good now, but the timer also turns the dryer off once the cloths are dry.

That same dryer has a moisture sensors on the backwall of the dryer. As the wet clothes rub against them a signal is sent back to the board. When no signal is received it cranks up the motor. Sorta like my co- workers GF on Payday. No Money no honey. Down here we have determined a simple removal and cleaning of the contact on this tiny board will make it do its thang once again. Another trade secret. Shhh They will all be doing it!!!
