I got the timer apart, but could not find anything wrong with it.  All contact points looked ok and everything was moving and springing back ok.  It was not easy to put back together.

I am giving up.  The wife wants a new washer (you know how that goes), so I'm kicking this one to the curb and heading to Sears.

Thanks to everyone for all the help.  At least I learned alot.

If anybody wants free parts (2 motors, 2 trannys, a new centrifugal switch), just pay for shipping and they are yours.  Send me an email.  I will keep the parts for a few weeks before tossing them.

what about the other timer? I have made a washer out of 2 washers. Are both timers shot?

The timers I have are different and I don't think they are interchangeable.  One is for the Kenmore 90 series and the other is for a Whirlpool Gold Ultracare HD Supercapacity+.  This one does not have as many cycle options as the Kenmore.

The model # for the Whirlpool is GST9344EQ0.

The timer for the Whirlpool is good, but I cannot say for sure if the Kenmore timer is good or not.

Here is what I have done in the past
I removed the whole back with the control harness and all that and I attach that to the base of another machine. The only thing holding the back on is 3 screws at the base. The whole control panel harness Downspout, watervalve will all lift off the base and attach to another machine.
Go for it. What have you got to lose?  :2funny: O0

I guess you are right.  Everything is the same except the controls and wiring harnesses.  It just might work.   I will give it a shot.

If it works, the wife will not be happy, since she has already picked out a new machine. 8)

It worked !!

I took the back panel, controls and harnesses off the junk Whirlpool washer and put them on the Kenmore and it works !!

Who du thunk it.

JWWebster, Thanks for the suggestion.  You saved me $1,200.

I think this washer will last me another couple years.
