Use a flat blade screwdriver to remove the female wire terminal from the spade male terminal. Use a prying motion.

Unplug the dryer. Raise the top lid. The heater and thermostat will be in the back left corner.
Use a volt/ohm meter set for ohms. Remove the wires from the heater and thermostat. Place a meter lead on each thermostat terminal. No reading is a bad thermostat. Do the same test on the heater terminals. No reading is a bad heater.

OK I got the wires off and applied the multimeter/voltmeter. I set the meter to ohm(200K) and I got an initial reading of -063 on the heater that flashed to 000 after a second. I applied it to the element and got no action at all. I assume this means the heater element is bad. Is the reading proper on the heater? What am I looking for?

Here is the diagram I found of your dryers heating element.

On this model your heater is located at the rear of the dryer near the top center.
You need to lift the top of the dryer to access it.

I often find #5 is bad and have to install have to install this Thermostat Kit Part # LA-1053

To check the #5 thermal fuse use your ohm meter.
A good fuse will check shorted, just as if you shorted your meters together.
A bad fuse will check open, just as if you held your probes apart from each other and got no reading on the meter.

As for your heating element it will check the same way if it's bad, there will be no reading at all on the heating element if the element is burnt open. You can also remove the heating element and simply look at the coil for a broken spot in the wire.

The terminals I tested were the side two on Part #1 and the top terminals on part #3. Im still not clear on what type of reading I am looking for to determine good or bad.

The heater is part number one.
To test the heater you would unplug the dryer.
Then unplug the two wires going to the element.
Take the probes from your ohm meter and put them on the heating element terminals were you just unplugged the two wires.

If you get no reading at all on your meter the element is bad.
If your heating element checks bad you can confirm this by removing the heating element and visually inspecting the coils of the heating element for a broken spot.

If you don't under stand how to use the meter you may want to study this guide.

Looks like it must be the element. No reading at all on it. Gonna remove and visually inspect.

Look close and wiggle the element wires a bit with your finger. Sometimes the brake in the wire is hard to see.
