estate washer will not spin or drain

estate washer willl not drain or spin, pump is fine, coupler is fine, motor when disconnected from tranny is strong, the machine makes a horrid grinding noise when put in spin drain setting , i am thinking tranny but when turning coupler it turns fine...nutral drain?

Wow that might be something gone haywire inside the tranny. For a better idea how them trannys work I have a sweet little guide right ova here:

i read that whirlpool sells nutral drain kits, its messy of course but its like 30.00 to do or should i just change the gearcase?

You might need to only change the spin pawl.
