GE Refer How do you initiate defrost?

Trying to find out if there is a way to tell the control board to initiate defrost.  Any help is appreciated.  Thanks,

There is a Diagnostic mode that you can perform from the control panel which will automatically check all the components and give you a readout with a fault code.

This model doesn't have a digital display. I have read that the board uses a adaptive defrost which counts door openings and compressor run time.  I was told that pushing the door switch about 5 times might work but it didn't seem to work.
