MAYTAG washer drive belt replacement

I just replaced the drive belt and it fits loose.  I attempted to tighten the motor teflon pads and it will not keep the belt tight.  So, before I strip or brake something I thought I better ask the pros.  Is this model suppose to be a floating self tentsion type application or I'm I about to brake or replace something else?

The motor is spring loaded. Its supposed to do that.
