Hello,

I have a Maytag Neptune Washer Model No. MAH4000AWW that will not spin. I started with the washer control board thinking it would be the infamous R11 door lock issue but my board looks fine. I started working through things systematically and came across the 10A fuse located on the motor control board and found it blown. My questions are: is it possible to just replace the fuse or does the whole board need to be replaced? Is there something that typically causes this fuse to go out, or is it just age? Any help anyone can offer would be great.

Thanks,

Thaiv

It is not possible to just replace the fuse. Even if you did it would just blow again.

It is not possible to just replace the board. You will need to install the motor conversion kit.

This is a fairly common problem. You either have a bad motor and/or board. In eather case it does not really matter because the only way you can replace either the motor or board is to get the conversion kit.

Before spending a lot of money on this washer, I would carefully check for bad tub bearings. You can check by turning the spin basket and try to "feal" bad bearings, you might just feal "roughness in the bearings.
I have, in the past, measured over three amps going to the speed control board at the two pin power connector going to the board. While the spin speed was ramping up, the current started at 1 amp and whent up to over 3 amps and the motor started to overheat and shut down. This washer had bad bearings in the initial stage of failure.
Bearing failure combined with bad drive components will make a repair not feasable due to the high cost.
