I have an 87 RV with an Onan 6.5 kw gen set, model NHE, I think spec code was K, but anyway, it will run as long as the start is held in, after that just dies. Checked the fuel switch, oil switch and fuel pump all seem fine. When it is cranking, I have no output from the unit. I asked an RV guy and he said voltage regulator, if that doesn't work it produces no 12vdc to run the coil, so it dies. My question is simple, these parts are non-returnable and a 315-0604 regulator/transformer is about $400, has anyone else experienced this and does this sound like it will happen again? I love to have a generator on board, but replacement is always an option if the until has outlived its service life.
Thanks in advance for any advice,
