There is an odor that emanates from the upper edge of the top load washer.

Most front load washers have this problem due to mildew buildup on the inside of the outer tub. Try a product called Affresh it is designed to deal with this.

These bad boy rock the house when in spin mode. I bet the bleach dispensing hose has slipped off. Pop the front off the machine and check that.

This is a top load washer. Dirt, hair and scum builds up around the sides of the ring on top of the tub. I would take the cabinet off and wipe the scum off of the ring. You can't get to the sides of the ring with the cabinet on.

You can use affresh on top loaders..this is how I do it...fill with water all the way up... drop in the affresh . then I fill with more water . up to the splash ring. I use a 5 gallon bucket to add more water. let it soak.. 20 to 30 minutes..put it into wash. Watch the splash so that not too much water splashes over. If it does scoop some water out until it stops spilling over..add this water later after it goes into drain..It will clean it out...
