Push button on Kenmore microwave is broken

I have a 1996 Kenmore Quick Touch microwave with a push button that opens the door. It still opens the door, but the microwave will not heat unless I push the button in halfway and keep holding it.

This kind of defeats the purpose of microwave convenience. I turned the microwave over but didn't see any way to access the button's internals. Does anyone know of a way to fix or replace this button?

Could you post the full model number for us? The model number can be found on the model/serial number tag that is located on the microwave.

Sears/Kenmore model number starts with three digits and end with eight.

For example. 110.12344678

On the inside of the door is a series of 3 or 4 door interlock micro-switches that allow for voltage on the low side of the power to go to the controller. Replacing those micro switches are simple enough. This AJ blog gives a good explanation:
